Out of a total of 393 thefts, 176 were of these specific car models, making up 44% of all car thefts. This percentage is a sharp rise compared to July 2022 when Kias and Hyundais only accounted for 9% of thefts. Despite efforts to combat car theft, such as the installation of immobilizers, the problem seems to be worsening. The situation is similar in Buffalo, New York, where car thefts of Kias and Hyundais are also on the rise. These statistics raise concerns and indicate a need for stronger prevention measures to be implemented.
